Deposits are treated as one rate across every vendor, which they are not — a venue often wants more and a florist less. It is the right shape for the question this answers, which is how much cash the booking phase needs at once, not what any single vendor will invoice.
The saving window deliberately stops short of the wedding. Final balances are due a couple of weeks before the day, so the last month is not a month you can save into, and a plan built on the full run-up comes up short by exactly that much.
